The fuel filter is located on bulk head, to left hand side of the engine. (see pic above) 1: Start by cleaning the area around the filter head. 2: Place a container beneath the fuel filter to catch any spillage. 3: Loosen the bleed screw (shown in the photo) using a 10mm spanner.

Using a 10mm socket remove the two bolts securing the front part of the shield. Place an oil drain pan below the oil filter and drain plug and unscrew the oil filter. Lubricate the rubber seal with clean oil and install the new filter. Tighten to 13 foot-pound torque. Remove drain plug in the oil pan and drain the oil.
The Captiva DPF failed after having done about 5,000 km and it was off the road for 10 days waiting on a replacement. Then at about 150,000 Km the seal on the turbo leaked oil into the exhaust and killed the DPF. Replacement cost was again quoted at approx. $6,000.
